While astronauts and cosmonauts have described the Overview Effect in various ways since the beginning of space flight, other than a small group of space enthusiasts, few in the public know its nature or even that it exists. Our group of leaders in space, cognitive science and simulation media formed the Overview Insitute to research and communicate this profound shift in worldview to the world. While many today see space projects as a diversion of resources from our many Earth-based challenges, when more fully understood, the worldview shift of space travel will be seen as a powerfull assett to all those seeking the kind of planetary perspective necessary to addressing world-scale problems. We invite all those who share this goal to join us at www.overviewinstitute.org
