The real Tuskegee Airmen: Hair required.

The real Tuskegee Airmen: Hair required.

Or at least play one? Then keep an eye on the casting calls for George Lucas’s next film, Red Tails, currently shooting in San Francisco.

From a recent announcement:

Beau Bonneau Casting in San Francisco is currently working on a George Lucas Film “Red Tails” starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrance Howard. This is a story about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American Combat Squadron in WWII in the 1940′s.

Seeking Non-union African American males for extra work to portray pilots and ground crew. Age Range: 18-35. Height requirement: 5’7″- 6’1″. Waist requirement: 31-34. Must be fit and in shape. Also must have hair on head. Because bald heads were not the trend in the 1940′s, we are not looking for bald heads.

  1. When I was in high school the math teacher I had in the 10th grade was Mr. Richard Macon. He invited me to join the Civil Air Patrol during high school, it was at that time I found out that he was Captain Richard Macon of the Tuskeegee Airmen and served during WWII. He later in life wheo on the lecture tour of Michigan schools until his passing in 2009. I was very honored to know this hero of WWII and he always had an effect on my life.

  2. In 1955 I was stationed at Lowry AFB, I met and dated the sister of (then) F/O Harris H Robnett Jr who rose to the rank of Col, who was also in 1945 one of the 31 black officers placed under arrest. In 1956 Brig B.O. Davis Jr became the CO, 17th AF Ramstien Germany and in July 1958 deployed my unit the 512th Fighter Intercepter Squadron on Operation BlueBat to Adana Turkey in support thereof.
Col Harris lost his life in 2003 at Vanderberg AFB, Ca, while a nursing home patient in Santa Marie, Ca
