If Richard Whitcomb wasn’t the most important aerospace engineer of the past 50 years, he was certainly on the short list. The veteran of NASA’s Langley Research Center died on Tuesday at the age of 88. Read about his contributions to aeronautics here, or watch a NASA-produced video at this link.
By Whitcomb’s request, there will be no funeral, and his ashes will be spread from an airplane over the Chesapeake Bay.
